Aspiring Secondary School Teacher

Noticed we have had quite a few new bloggers recently? Well here is another, but this time it's an aspiring secondary teacher! Meet Jacinta...

I have recently graduated from University College Cork with a BA in History and Geography and in September 2015 I intended on starting my training to become a fully qualified secondary school teacher. I chose to take a year out of education in order to gain experience working in a classroom environment. I also wanted to live in another country for a year and with Protocol Education I managed to combine both.

When I decided I wanted to live in London I registered with a few agencies but I found Protocol Education to be the most positive and most enthusiastic of them all. I received a call from Clodagh who is the International Candidate Co-ordinator for Protocol Education.

Clodagh was very helpful and talked me through the whole process of moving to London. As a young graduate I was quite nervous about the move but Protocol Education made all of the “paperwork business” much easier.

Within a week of the new school year I received much interest in my CV and had many job opportunities. I have now managed to secure a long term position in a primary school working in an SEN position working mainly with a child in KS2 but I have also gotten the opportunity to work with children in KS1.

The school is a new school which has only been open with 3 years and has a very young staff. This leads to very new and innovative methods when dealing with children who have special needs and behavioural issues which have to be catered for.

We look forward to Jacinta's next blog and getting her insight as a trainee teacher.
