Pay Related FAQs

Getting paid is a very important part of any job - and when you're living in a new country it can be a sensitive subject! At Protocol Education we help in every way we can, and here are some of the questions asked by Australian teachers about getting paid.

What happens if I can’t find the contact to sign my timesheet?

What if I am at one school for two days in one week?

What if I forget to bring my timesheets to the school?

What if my rate of pay is incorrect on my payslip?

I have just started working and don’t know my payroll number…what should I do?

How do I know if I am paying the right amount of tax?

What happens if I can’t find the contact to sign my timesheet?

Often an administrator at the school can also sign your timesheet so check with them first. If they are not there or cannot sign your timesheet call your Consultant and ask them what is the best thing to do.

What if I am at one school for two days in one week?

Do I need to complete a separate timesheet for each day worked? If you are at the same school twice in one week it is easiest to just complete one timesheet.

What if I forget to bring my timesheets to the school?

Most of our schools will have spare timesheets on hand but don’t worry if they don’t! You can either go to our website where you can print one off or you can get your consultant to fax one over to the school. Alternatively, the timesheets are always available to print from our UK website.

What if my rate of pay is incorrect on my payslip?

If you are paid incorrectly please give your local consultant a call to discuss with them. If they made an error when they booked you into work they can make a pay adjustment which will be paid to you the following week.

I have just started working and don’t know my payroll number…what should I do?

In the first week of work you won’t have a payroll number yet so just leave the boxes blank on your timesheet. When you receive your first payslip your payroll number will be on it so you can write it down so going forward you can enter it on your timesheets.

How do I know if I am paying the right amount of tax?

Everyone who works in the UK has a tax code assigned to them based on their rate of pay. If your rate of pay changes your tax code will be adjusted accordingly. If you are ever in doubt please contact Key Pay if you are being paid through them or our Payroll to discuss.
