Registering in Australia

Why Register in Australia?

Here is the registration process broken down for those registering in Australia for UK teaching jobs. Most of our teachers register with us prior to departing for the UK, as we can help in many ways with your relocation.

There are many reasons to register with Protocol Education while you are still in Australia. Firstly…it’s free to register with Protocol Education. Secondly we have staff in Australia, on the same time zones, to take the headache out of preparing for your upcoming trip. These consultants have all previously made the trip to the UK before so know what to expect; they know what to do, what to avoid, what works & what doesn't. If you have no idea about moving to the U.K to teach then they are a great resource!

Step one - Initial Registration

Our first conversation with you after your online registration will be to chat to you about your experience, skills; and eligibility for a working visa. We’ll advise you as to the best time to go to get the most out of your UK teaching experience

Step two - The Paperwork

We will send you an initial email outlining all of the requirements for registering with Protocol Education to teach in the UK and send you an online application form to complete.

Step three - The Interview

Once you have completed the form we will conduct an interview with you (either by phone, Skype or face to face – depending on your location). This interview helps us to understand more about your skills as teacher and match you to the right opportunities in the UK. We will discuss locations, availability of work and market conditions with you. We’ll also fill you in on things that we help you with on arrival ie. UK bank accounts, accommodation, travel advice & National Insurance (the U.K version of Medicare)

Step Four - Preparation for UK Classrooms

We will suggest various websites for you to look at in order to familiarise yourself with the UK education system, National Curriculum, schemes of work and resources available to UK teachers.

Step Five - Nearly There

We clear your file, we contact your referees, verify your qualification, process your UK Police Check Application.

Step Six - Off You Go!

Once your file is cleared, you are eligible to start teaching in the UK.  We book you your UK induction, send you your SIM card and answer any last minute questions you might have along the way.

The length of time from initial online registration to Step Six varies greatly, so it's best to register as soon as you are thinking about teaching in the UK.
